McConnell Dowell is a leading engineering company who offer a holistic approach in building public and private infrastructure. McConnell Dowell constantly exceeds clients' requirements through innovation and teamwork, and promotes industry excellence in the management of safety, quality, environmental and human relations in every project they undertake.

Due to future expansion within the company, McConnell Dowell welcomed the opportunity to lease the upper level of their existing office space. This enabled Habitat1 to refurbish the ground level, and fully fitout the top floor to suit their requirements.

McConnell Dowell requested a sleek, fresh and timeless fitout. Promoting a 'professional' atmosphere was a key aspect of our brief, reflecting the services and attitudes within the company.

With this brief in mind, Habitat1 set about achieving this outcome in a number of ways.

The key focus was primarily on the reception area which included:

• Spotted Gum timber batons running along the ceiling, through the counter and down to the floor, creating a structural, engineered look to the space
• Pewter axolotl finish to the reception counter surround
• Feature pendants to highlight the space

Other features of the fitout include:

• 'Zone' system workstations with screen fabrics illustrating seperation between teams
• Various storage options including, tambour units, overhead units, screen hung shelves and custom joinery units in offices
• Spotted Gum veneer doors
• Boardroom with full AV capabilities, recessed floor boxes, veneer joinery and feature lighting

Overall, the fitout reflects the client's brief and the nature of McConnell Dowell - Professional, individual and successful
